## Frequently Asked Questions

### Q: What is TeamToast?

TeamToast is a free employee recognition platform for Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chat. Teams send "toasts" (shout-outs) to celebrate colleagues, run pulse surveys, award badges, and track engagement — all from one dashboard. Free for up to 25 users with every feature included.

### Q: How is TeamToast different from Slack emoji reactions?

Slack reactions are ephemeral and invisible to the org. TeamToast makes recognition visible, trackable, and rewardable — with points, leaderboards, analytics, and a public Toast Wall. It turns casual appreciation into structured culture.

### Q: Do I need IT approval to set up TeamToast?

No. Any team lead can sign up, connect Slack/Teams/Google Chat, and invite their team in under 2 minutes. No IT tickets, no server provisioning, no configuration files. Enterprise SSO and admin controls are available when you are ready.

### Q: Can I try TeamToast with just my team before rolling out company-wide?

Yes. Start with your team on the free tier (up to 25 users). If it works, expand to the whole org later. All data, settings, and recognition history carry over when you upgrade.

### Q: How do employees actually send a toast?

Use a slash command in Slack, Teams, or Google Chat (e.g., /toast @colleague Great work on the launch!), or send from the web dashboard. Add points, choose named or anonymous, and optionally attach a celebration GIF.

### Q: What happens to our recognition data if we cancel?

Your data remains accessible for 30 days after cancellation. You can export recognition history, survey results, and user data as CSV at any time before or after cancelling.

### Q: Is TeamToast suitable for remote and hybrid teams?

Absolutely. TeamToast works wherever your team chats — Slack, Teams, or Google Chat. The Toast Wall provides an async recognition feed, and surveys reach everyone regardless of location or time zone.

### Q: Can managers and employees both give recognition?

Yes. TeamToast is peer-to-peer by design. Any team member can send toasts to anyone else. Managers can also grant formal awards, but everyday recognition flows in all directions — not just top-down.

### Q: How does TeamToast handle multiple time zones?

Recognition rituals, survey schedules, and notifications respect the time zone configured for your account. Ritual kickoffs and recaps fire at the right local hour, not at 3 AM.

### Q: Does TeamToast work alongside our existing HR tools?

TeamToast focuses on recognition, surveys, and engagement. It complements HRIS, performance review, and payroll systems rather than replacing them. Growth and Scale plans include API access for custom integrations.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Q: How many features are included vs competitors that gate features behind tiers?

All 19 features are included on every plan, including the free tier. There are no feature gates, no premium-only modules, and no upgrade walls. Competitors like Bonusly, Nectar, and Assembly lock surveys, analytics, or SSO behind paid tiers.

### Q: Can I use features selectively — for example, surveys without gamification?

Yes. Every feature can be toggled independently. Run surveys without enabling badges, use the Toast Wall without leaderboards, or activate only the modules your team needs. Nothing is forced on.

### Q: How do the points economy and gift shop work together?

Employees receive spendable points when they get toasted. They can browse a gift shop (stocked by admins with items like swag, gift cards, or extra PTO) and redeem points for real rewards. Admins track all redemptions and fulfill orders from the dashboard.

### Q: What's the difference between toasts, feedback, and awards?

Toasts are peer-to-peer shout-outs visible to the team. Feedback is private or anonymous messages with threaded replies for constructive conversations. Awards are formal recognitions granted by admins or managers for milestones, values, or achievements.

### Q: Can recognition be tied to specific company values?

Yes. Awards and toasts can reference company values you define. The award template library includes categories like teamwork, innovation, and leadership that you can customize to match your culture.

### Q: How does the bot notification system work across platforms?

When someone receives a toast, award, or survey, the TeamToast bot delivers a notification directly in their Slack channel, Teams chat, or Google Chat space. Bot commands also let users send toasts, respond to surveys, and check balances without leaving chat.

### Q: What analytics and reporting does TeamToast provide?

The admin analytics dashboard includes six tabs: Overview (KPIs), Trends (time-series charts), Participation (rates by department/team), Network (cross-team recognition patterns), Engagement (feedback and ritual stats), and Economy (points circulation and gift analytics). All exportable to CSV.

### Q: Can I export recognition data for performance reviews?

Yes. Admins can export toasts, awards, feedback, survey results, and gift redemptions as CSV files from the analytics dashboard. Filter by date range and data type to get exactly the data your performance review process needs.

### Q: How do recognition rituals differ from manual reminders?

Rituals are automated three-phase cycles: a kickoff message prompts the team to recognize each other, a mid-period nudge boosts participation, and a recap message celebrates top contributors. Manual reminders are one-and-done and lack the feedback loop.

### Q: What accessibility features does TeamToast support?

TeamToast is built with semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and WCAG-compliant contrast ratios. The dashboard and marketing site use proper heading hierarchy, ARIA labels, and focus management.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Q: Is TeamToast really free for up to 25 users?

Yes. The free tier includes all 19 features for up to 25 users with no time limit, no credit card required, and no feature gates. It is not a trial — it is a permanent free plan.

### Q: What happens when my team grows past 25 users?

When you add your 26th user, you are prompted to upgrade to the Growth plan at $1/user/month. All your existing data, settings, recognition history, and configurations are preserved automatically.

Yes. Annual billing saves approximately 17%: Growth is $10/user/year (vs $12 monthly) and Scale is $30/user/year (vs $36 monthly).

### Q: What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and ACH bank transfers for annual plans. Enterprise customers on the Scale plan can request invoicing.

### Q: Can I downgrade from a paid plan back to free?

Yes. Remove users until you are at 25 or fewer and you return to the free plan automatically. All your data is preserved and every feature stays active.

### Q: Do you offer nonprofit or education discounts?

Yes. Contact us at hello@teamtoast.ai for special pricing for nonprofits, educational institutions, and open-source organizations.

### Q: What's your refund policy?

# Toast Wall & TV Mode — Free Employee Recognition Wall | TeamToast

Give recognition a stage. TeamToast lets you display every shout-out on a shareable public wall and a full-screen TV presentation mode perfect for office lobbies, all-hands meetings, and remote teams.

**Category:** Visibility

> **Employee Recognition Wall:** An employee recognition wall is a shared display — physical or digital — where team achievements and shout-outs are visible to the entire organization. Digital recognition walls update in real time and can be displayed on office TVs, shared via URL, or embedded in company intranets.

## Key Benefits

- Shareable public wall URL anyone can visit
- Full-screen TV mode designed for office displays and all-hands meetings
- Optional password protection for company-only access
- Real-time updates as new toasts arrive
- Works beautifully on any screen size from phones to 65-inch TVs
- No app install needed for viewers

---

## How It Works

1. **Enable your Toast Wall** — Go to admin settings and toggle the public wall on. Set an optional password if you want to restrict access.
2. **Share the link** — Copy your unique wall URL and share it with your team via Slack, email, or your intranet.
3. **Switch to TV mode** — Open the wall URL and click "Present" to launch full-screen presentation mode on any TV or monitor.

---

## A public wall your whole company can see

Every TeamToast account gets a unique wall URL. Share it with your company, pin it in Slack, or bookmark it on office kiosks. New toasts appear in real time so nobody misses a celebration.

- Unique /wall/your-company URL for each account
- Real-time feed of toasts with sender, recipient, and message
- Leaderboard sidebar showing top givers and receivers
- Filter by date range to spotlight recent wins

- Auto-advances so no interaction is needed after launch
- Large, readable text optimized for distance viewing
- Dark and light themes match your office environment
- Runs on any device with a browser and an HDMI cable

## Control who sees your wall

Keep your recognition wall private with optional password protection. Only people with the password can view toasts, making it safe for sensitive team environments.

- Toggle password protection on or off from admin settings
- Set a custom password that you share with your team
- Unauthenticated visitors see a login prompt, not your data
- Change the password anytime without disrupting existing sessions

---

## Use Cases

### Office lobby display

Mount a TV in your lobby running TeamToast in presentation mode. Visitors and employees see a live feed of recognition as they walk in.

### All-hands and town halls

## Frequently Asked Questions — Toast Wall & TV Mode

### Q: Can I customize the Toast Wall's appearance and branding?

The Toast Wall inherits your account branding on Growth and Scale plans, including your logo and color scheme. The layout, toast card design, and leaderboard sidebar are consistent across all plans to ensure a polished viewing experience.

### Q: Does the TV mode auto-refresh with new toasts in real time?

Yes. TV presentation mode automatically rotates through the latest toasts and updates the display when new recognition arrives. No manual refresh or page reload is needed — it is designed to run unattended on office screens.

### Q: Can I moderate which toasts appear on the public wall?

Currently, all toasts appear on the wall by default. Admins can archive individual toasts from the admin dashboard, which removes them from the wall. Content moderation policies can be set through your account's recognition guidelines.

### Q: What screen resolution works best for TV presentation mode?

TV mode is optimized for 1080p (1920x1080) and 4K displays. It scales responsively, so it works on any screen from a 24-inch monitor to a 65-inch TV. For best results, use a modern browser in full-screen mode.

### Q: Can multiple departments have separate Toast Walls?

Each TeamToast account has one Toast Wall URL. All toasts across the organization appear on the same wall. If you need department-level separation, you can use the wall's date and department filters to focus on specific teams.

## Frequently Asked Questions — Pulse Surveys

### Q: What question types does TeamToast support for surveys?

TeamToast supports five question types: Likert scale (1-5 agreement), NPS (0-10 promoter score), yes/no binary, multiple choice, and open text. You can mix question types within a single survey.

### Q: Can I schedule recurring surveys on a weekly or monthly cadence?

Yes. When creating a survey, set the schedule to daily, weekly, or monthly. The survey fires automatically on your chosen cadence and delivers to the targeted audience via their chat platform or a web link.

### Q: How does audience targeting work for surveys?

Target surveys to the entire organization, specific departments, individual teams, or named users. This lets you run a company-wide engagement pulse alongside focused team check-ins without survey fatigue.

### Q: Can survey results be segmented by department or team?

Yes. The survey analytics dashboard breaks down response rates and score distributions by department and team. This helps identify pockets of low engagement without exposing individual responses.

### Q: What is event-triggered survey delivery?

Event-triggered surveys fire automatically after specific actions — for example, after an employee receives a toast or earns a badge. This captures feedback at the moment of highest engagement, improving response quality.

### Q: How do I interpret NPS scores in TeamToast analytics?

TeamToast calculates your NPS automatically from 0-10 responses: promoters (9-10) minus detractors (0-6), expressed as a score from -100 to +100. The analytics dashboard shows NPS trends over time alongside response distributions.

# Anonymous Recognition — Free Anonymous Peer Feedback Tool | TeamToast

Not all recognition needs a name attached. TeamToast lets anyone send anonymous toasts, feedback, and survey responses so your team can be honest without feeling exposed.

**Category:** Recognition

> **Anonymous Employee Recognition:** Anonymous employee recognition allows team members to acknowledge colleagues without revealing their identity. True anonymity means the sender identity is never stored or accessible — even to system administrators — creating psychological safety for honest appreciation and feedback.

## Key Benefits

- Send anonymous toasts to celebrate colleagues without attribution
- Submit anonymous feedback with threaded replies
- Respond to surveys anonymously for honest, unfiltered data
- Dedicated anonymous commands in Slack, Teams, and Google Chat
- True anonymity — identities are never stored or revealed
- Builds psychological safety and trust across the team

---

## How It Works

1. **Choose the anonymous option** — When sending a toast, submitting feedback, or creating a survey, toggle the anonymous switch or use the dedicated anonymous slash command.
2. **Send without attribution** — Your message, feedback, or survey response is delivered to the recipient. Your identity is never stored alongside the content.
3. **Receive and respond** — Recipients see the anonymous message and can reply in threaded conversations. The original sender remains anonymous throughout.

---

## Anonymous toasts that still feel meaningful

Sometimes a quiet thank-you means more than a public shout-out. Anonymous toasts let introverted team members, new hires, and anyone who prefers privacy recognize colleagues without the spotlight.

- Send anonymous toasts via slash commands or the web dashboard
- Recipient sees the message and points but not who sent it
- Admins cannot trace anonymous toasts back to the sender
- Points are still deducted from the sender balance normally
- Anonymous toasts appear on the Toast Wall marked as anonymous

---

## Honest feedback without fear

Anonymous feedback breaks down the barriers that keep people from speaking up. Team members can share constructive observations, praise, or concerns without worrying about repercussions.

- Send anonymous feedback to any colleague
- Threaded replies allow follow-up conversations
- Replies can be public or private per message
- Recipients can respond without knowing who started the thread
- Encourages a culture of candid, constructive communication

---

## Survey responses you can actually trust

When employees know their survey responses are truly anonymous, response rates climb and data quality improves. TeamToast never links anonymous responses to individual identities.

- Enable anonymity per survey with a single toggle
- Individual responses are never attributed to a user
- Aggregate analytics show trends without exposing individuals
- Higher response rates compared to non-anonymous surveys
- Builds trust that the feedback loop is safe and genuine

---

## Use Cases

### New hire appreciation

New team members who do not yet feel comfortable speaking publicly can send anonymous toasts to show gratitude during their first weeks.

### Constructive upward feedback

Team members can share honest, constructive feedback with managers anonymously, enabling conversations that would not happen otherwise.

### Authentic engagement data

Run anonymous pulse surveys after major changes to get unfiltered sentiment data that drives better decisions.

## Frequently Asked Questions — Anonymous Recognition

### Q: How does TeamToast ensure anonymity is truly untraceable?

TeamToast does not store the sender identity alongside anonymous toasts, feedback, or survey responses. The anonymous flag is set at creation time and the sender reference is permanently excluded from the record. There is no admin panel or database query that can reveal the sender.

### Q: Can anonymous recognition be disabled for specific teams?

Account admins can enable or disable anonymous toasts, anonymous feedback, and anonymous surveys independently at the account level. Per-team anonymity settings are not currently available — the setting applies organization-wide.

### Q: Do anonymous toasts appear differently on the Toast Wall?

Yes. Anonymous toasts display "Anonymous" as the sender name instead of a user profile. The message, recipient, and points are visible normally. Recipients and wall viewers can see the recognition but cannot identify who sent it.

### Q: How does anonymous feedback threading work?

When someone sends anonymous feedback, the recipient can reply in a threaded conversation. Each reply can be marked public (visible to other thread participants) or private (visible only to the direct recipient). The original sender remains anonymous throughout the entire thread.

### Q: Can I send anonymous recognition via Slack, Teams, and Google Chat?

Yes. Each chat platform has a dedicated anonymous command (e.g., /toast-anon in Slack). You can also toggle the anonymous switch when sending from the web dashboard. Anonymous recognition works identically across all three platforms.

# Badges & Streaks — Free Recognition Gamification Tool | TeamToast

Turn recognition into a daily habit. TeamToast automatically awards badges for achievements and tracks giving and receiving streaks so engagement becomes self-reinforcing.

**Category:** Gamification

> **Recognition Gamification:** Recognition gamification applies game mechanics — badges, streaks, leaderboards, and points — to employee recognition programs. These elements create intrinsic motivation and habit formation, turning occasional appreciation into a sustained daily practice.

## Key Benefits

- Badges earned automatically based on activity milestones
- Four badge categories: giver, receiver, survey, and special
- Daily and weekly streak tracking for giving and receiving
- Streak leaderboard celebrates the most consistent team members
- Visual badge showcase on every user profile
- No manual setup — gamification works out of the box

---

## How It Works

1. **Recognition activity triggers badge checks** — Every time a toast is sent, feedback submitted, or survey completed, TeamToast checks if any badge criteria have been met.
2. **Badges are awarded automatically** — When a milestone is reached, the badge is unlocked and appears on the user profile. No admin action is needed.
3. **Streaks update daily** — Giving and receiving streaks are recalculated each day. The streak leaderboard updates in real time so the team can see who is on a roll.

---

## Achievement badges that celebrate progress

Badges are awarded automatically when team members hit milestones. First toast sent, tenth recognition received, first survey completed — every action earns visual proof of participation.

- Giver badges for sending toasts (first toast, 10th, 50th, 100th)
- Receiver badges for being recognized by peers
- Survey badges for completing engagement surveys
- Special badges for unique achievements and milestones
- Each badge has a unique icon, name, and unlock criteria

---

## Streaks that build recognition habits

Streaks track consecutive days or weeks of giving and receiving recognition. They create gentle accountability that turns occasional appreciation into a daily habit.

- Giving streaks count consecutive active recognition days
- Receiving streaks show how consistently someone is appreciated
- Current and longest streak displayed on user profiles
- Streak leaderboard ranks the most consistent team members
- Streak breaks are tracked so users can see their patterns

---

## A badge showcase on every profile

Each team member has a visual badge collection on their profile. It serves as a record of their recognition journey and a source of pride they can share.

- Grid display of all earned badges with unlock dates
- Locked badges show what milestones are coming next
- Progress indicators for badges close to being earned
- Visible to all team members to inspire friendly competition

---

## Use Cases

### New team onboarding

New hires earn their first badges within days, giving them an immediate sense of belonging and accomplishment.

### Sustained engagement programs

Streaks create gentle accountability that keeps recognition rates steady week after week, not just during launch excitement.

### Team competitions

Use the streak leaderboard to run friendly recognition challenges between departments or teams.

## Frequently Asked Questions — Badges & Streaks

### Q: What triggers a badge to be awarded automatically?

Badges are triggered by activity milestones: sending your first toast, reaching 10 or 50 recognitions sent, completing your first survey, receiving recognition from 5 different colleagues, and similar thresholds. The system checks badge criteria after every qualifying action.

### Q: How long does a streak last before it resets?

A streak resets when a user goes a full business day without sending or receiving recognition (depending on the streak type). Weekend gaps do not break streaks by default. The longest streak record is always preserved even after a reset.

### Q: Can administrators create custom badge criteria?

Currently, badges are predefined across four categories: giver, receiver, survey, and special. Each category has multiple tiers that unlock progressively. Custom badge creation is on the product roadmap for a future release.

### Q: Are streak achievements visible to the whole team?

Yes. Current streaks and longest streaks are displayed on user profiles visible to all team members. The streak leaderboard ranks the most consistent recognizers across the organization and is accessible from the dashboard.

### Q: How do badges differ from awards in TeamToast?

Badges are earned automatically based on activity milestones and cannot be granted manually. Awards are formal recognitions created from templates and granted by admins or managers to specific recipients for specific achievements. Both appear on user profiles.

Automate recurring recognition moments with scheduled kickoff, nudge, and recap messages. TeamToast delivers them through Slack, Teams, or Google Chat so recognition becomes a team ritual, not an afterthought.

**Category:** Engagement

> **Recognition Ritual:** A recognition ritual is a recurring, scheduled team activity that prompts employees to recognize each other. Unlike ad-hoc recognition, rituals create consistent engagement through automated kickoff, nudge, and recap messages delivered via chat platforms.

## Key Benefits

- Mid-period nudges keep participation rates high
- Recap messages celebrate the week or month top contributors
- Weekly, biweekly, or monthly cadences to fit your workflow

3. **Activate and let it run** — Toggle the ritual on and TeamToast handles everything. Pause or stop anytime from the admin dashboard.

---

- Recap message: summarizes top givers, receivers, and highlights
- Configurable hours for each phase to match your time zone

- Department-specific rituals for focused teams
- Team-level rituals for small group celebrations
- Channel-based delivery in Slack, Teams, or Google Chat

## What Our Customers Say

## Frequently Asked Questions — Recognition Rituals

### Q: What is the kickoff-nudge-recap cycle?

Each ritual runs in three phases: the kickoff message announces the recognition window is open, the nudge message (sent mid-period) reminds people who have not participated yet, and the recap message celebrates top contributors and summarizes activity. All three are automated and delivered via chat.

### Q: Can I create a custom ritual from scratch?

Yes. Define a name, cadence (weekly, biweekly, or monthly), target audience (whole company, department, or team), and customize the kickoff, nudge, and recap messages. Set specific days and hours for each phase to match your team's workflow.

### Q: How do ritual recap summaries get delivered?

Recap messages are delivered through your connected chat platform at the hour you configure. They include the number of toasts sent during the ritual period, top givers and receivers, and a highlight of the most-reacted toast.

### Q: Can different teams run different rituals simultaneously?

Yes. You can create multiple rituals with different cadences and target audiences. For example, engineering might run a weekly "Friday Shout-outs" ritual while marketing runs a monthly "Campaign Heroes" ritual — each with their own schedule and messaging.

### Q: What pre-built ritual templates are available?

The template library includes Feedback Friday (weekly end-of-week recognition), Monday Motivation (weekly start-of-week), Monthly Shout-outs (monthly celebration), and more. Each template comes with pre-written kickoff, nudge, and recap messages that you can customize.

## Frequently Asked Questions — Awards & Rewards

### Q: How do award templates differ from one-off awards?

Award templates are reusable definitions with a name, description, frequency, eligibility rules, and celebration GIF. When granting an award, you select a template and choose a recipient. One-off awards are not a separate concept — all awards use templates, which can be created from scratch or activated from the library.

### Q: Can employees redeem points for custom gifts?

Yes. Admins stock the gift shop with custom items — company swag, gift cards, extra PTO, lunch vouchers, charitable donations, or anything else. Employees browse the shop and spend their earned spendable points. Admins fulfill redemptions and track status.

### Q: Who has permission to grant awards?

Award granting permissions are configurable per template. You can restrict a template to admins only, managers only, or allow anyone to grant it. This flexibility lets you have peer-nominated awards alongside manager-only milestone awards.

### Q: How does period-based award tracking work?

Each award template can be set to weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, or one-time frequency. The system tracks how many times an award has been granted in the current period and displays award history on recipient profiles with timestamps.

### Q: Can I upload custom gift items to the shop?

Yes. Admins can add gift items with a name, description, image, and point cost. There is no limit on the number of gift items. You can update inventory, adjust point prices, and remove items at any time from the admin dashboard.

## Frequently Asked Questions — Leaderboards

### Q: What metrics are leaderboards ranked by?

The main leaderboard ranks by recognition activity: toasts sent (top givers) and toasts received (top receivers). The streak leaderboard separately ranks by consecutive active recognition days. Each view provides a different lens on engagement.

### Q: Can individual employees opt out of leaderboard visibility?

Leaderboards are visible to all team members by default. Individual opt-out is not currently available, but if your organization prefers a non-competitive environment, contact support to discuss account-level visibility options.

### Q: How do anonymous toasts affect leaderboard rankings?

Anonymous toasts count toward the recipient's leaderboard ranking (they received recognition) but do not affect the sender's ranking. This preserves anonymity while still crediting the recipient for being recognized.

### Q: Can I filter leaderboards by time period?

Yes. Filter by this week, this month, this quarter, or all time. Weekly views reset every Monday, giving new or less active team members a fresh chance to appear on the leaderboard each week.

### Q: Do leaderboards show across the Toast Wall and TV mode?

Yes. The public Toast Wall includes a leaderboard sidebar showing top givers and receivers for the current period. In TV presentation mode, leaderboard data appears alongside the rotating toast display.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Q: How did you score each competitor's features?

Each platform is evaluated across 19 feature categories (including free tier availability). A feature fully supported scores 1, partial support scores 0.5, and no support scores 0. TeamToast scores 19/19 because every feature is fully included on all plans.

### Q: What data sources did you use for competitor pricing?

Pricing data comes from each competitor's public pricing page, verified as of February 2026. Where pricing is quote-based (e.g., Kudos, Workhuman), we note the range based on publicly available information and customer reviews.

### Q: How often do you update competitor comparison data?

We review competitor features and pricing quarterly. If a competitor makes a significant change between reviews, we update the comparison as soon as we verify the new information.

### Q: Can TeamToast import data from my current recognition platform?

TeamToast can import your team members from Slack, Teams, or Google Chat in one click. Historical recognition data from other platforms cannot be imported directly, but you can run TeamToast alongside your current tool during transition at no cost.

### Q: What's the typical migration timeline?

Most teams migrate in a single day. Connect your chat platform, import users, and start recognizing. Enterprise migrations from platforms like Achievers or Workhuman may take one to two weeks due to their complex configurations.

### Q: Do you offer migration assistance?

Yes. Contact our team at hello@teamtoast.ai and we will help you plan your migration, import your team, and configure TeamToast to match your existing recognition programs.

### Q: How does TeamToast handle recognition history from other platforms?

Recognition history from other platforms cannot be imported directly into TeamToast. We recommend exporting a CSV from your current tool for your records, then starting fresh in TeamToast. The free tier lets you trial without any commitment.

### Q: Which competitors does TeamToast most often replace?

The most common switches come from Bonusly (teams wanting a free tier and Google Chat), HeyTaco (teams needing surveys and feedback), and Matter (teams wanting anonymous recognition and a toast wall). Each comparison page details the specific advantages.

## Frequently Asked Questions — TeamToast vs Nectar

### Q: Does Nectar have anonymous recognition?

Yes, Nectar offers encrypted anonymous recognition. However, Nectar requires a $4,000/year minimum commitment to access it. TeamToast provides truly anonymous toasts, feedback, and surveys on every plan including the free tier.

### Q: How does Nectar's rewards marketplace compare to TeamToast's gift shop?

Nectar integrates with Amazon for a large rewards catalog. TeamToast offers a custom gift shop where admins define their own items — company swag, PTO, gift cards, charitable donations. The tradeoff is Nectar's catalog breadth vs TeamToast's customization and zero cost.

### Q: Is Nectar's pricing transparent or quote-based?

Nectar lists $5/user/month on their website but requires a $4,000/year minimum annual commitment. TeamToast has fully transparent pricing: free for 25 users, $1/user/month for Growth, $3/user/month for Scale. No minimums, no sales calls.

### Q: Can I use Nectar with Google Chat?

No. Nectar supports Slack and Microsoft Teams but not Google Chat. If your team uses Google Chat, TeamToast is one of the few platforms that supports all three major chat platforms natively.

### Q: What does Nectar offer that TeamToast doesn't?

Nectar's main advantage is its Amazon rewards integration, giving employees access to millions of products. Nectar also offers eNPS tracking as a dedicated feature. TeamToast focuses on a broader feature set (surveys, rituals, badges, streaks, toast wall) at a significantly lower price.

## Frequently Asked Questions — TeamToast vs Matter

### Q: Does Matter support Microsoft Teams and Google Chat?

Matter supports Slack and Microsoft Teams but not Google Chat. TeamToast supports all three — Slack, Teams, and Google Chat — giving you flexibility as your organization's communication tools evolve.

### Q: How does Matter's kudos system compare to TeamToast's toast system?

Both are peer-to-peer recognition systems. Matter uses "kudos" while TeamToast uses "toasts." The key difference is TeamToast adds a three-tier points economy, anonymous recognition, a public Toast Wall, and TV presentation mode — features Matter does not offer.

### Q: Does Matter offer recognition rituals or automated ceremonies?

Matter offers a Feedback Friday feature. TeamToast provides a full ritual engine with customizable cadences (weekly, biweekly, monthly), configurable kickoff/nudge/recap messages, audience targeting, and a template library with multiple pre-built rituals.

### Q: Can Matter handle anonymous recognition?

## Frequently Asked Questions — TeamToast vs HeyTaco

### Q: How does HeyTaco's taco-based system differ from TeamToast's points economy?

HeyTaco gives each user 5 tacos per day to hand out. TeamToast uses a three-tier system: giveable points (monthly allowance), spendable points (earned from receiving toasts, redeemable for gifts), and team points (shared pool for team awards). TeamToast's system supports real rewards, not just symbolic tacos.

### Q: Does HeyTaco work outside of Slack?

Yes. HeyTaco supports Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chat — one of few competitors matching TeamToast's three-platform support. However, HeyTaco lacks surveys, feedback, badges, streaks, rituals, and awards that TeamToast includes.

### Q: Can HeyTaco run pulse surveys?

No. HeyTaco is focused purely on recognition and does not include survey functionality. TeamToast includes 20+ survey templates with 5 question types, audience targeting, scheduled delivery, and real-time analytics — all on the free tier.

### Q: Is HeyTaco suitable for companies over 50 people?

HeyTaco works for larger teams but charges $3/user/month with no free tier. At 50 users, that is $1,800/year for basic recognition only. TeamToast is free for 25 users and $1/user/month for Growth, with a far broader feature set including surveys, feedback, and analytics.

### Q: What analytics does HeyTaco provide compared to TeamToast?

HeyTaco provides basic recognition analytics — taco counts, leaderboards, and activity trends. TeamToast offers a six-tab analytics dashboard covering recognition trends, participation rates, cross-team patterns, feedback insights, ritual performance, and points economy. All exportable to CSV.

Rituals are simpler to set up and specifically designed for engagement.

### Q: Does Assembly offer a free tier?

### Q: Does Assembly include pulse surveys?

## Frequently Asked Questions — TeamToast vs Guusto

### Q: How does Guusto's gift-first approach differ from TeamToast's recognition-first model?

Guusto is primarily a gifting platform — managers send gift cards to employees as recognition. TeamToast is a full recognition platform with peer-to-peer toasts, feedback, surveys, badges, streaks, and rituals. Gifts are one component of TeamToast (the gift shop), not the entire product.

### Q: Does Guusto support peer-to-peer recognition beyond gifts?

Guusto's peer recognition is centered around sending gift cards. TeamToast offers peer-to-peer toasts (public shout-outs with points), anonymous recognition, threaded feedback, and recognition rituals — a much broader set of recognition interactions.

### Q: Can Guusto integrate with Slack, Teams, and Google Chat?

Guusto integrates with Slack and Microsoft Teams but not Google Chat. TeamToast natively supports all three platforms with full feature parity: send toasts, respond to surveys, check balances, and participate in rituals from any connected platform.

### Q: Does Guusto offer surveys, badges, or streaks?

No. Guusto focuses exclusively on gift-based recognition and does not include pulse surveys, badges, streaks, recognition rituals, or a public toast wall. TeamToast includes all of these on every plan including the free tier.

### Q: What is Guusto's pricing per user vs TeamToast?

Guusto uses sender-based pricing starting at $200/month ($2,400/year minimum). TeamToast is free for up to 25 users with all features, and $1/user/month for 26-50 users. For a 50-person team, TeamToast costs $300/year vs Guusto's $2,400+.

## Frequently Asked Questions — TeamToast vs Awardco

### Q: Is Awardco designed for enterprise or SMBs?

Awardco targets mid-size to enterprise organizations with its Amazon Business integration and automated milestone programs. Its $3,000/year minimum and enterprise onboarding make it less suitable for SMBs. TeamToast serves both with a free tier for small teams and scalable paid plans.

### Q: How does Awardco's Amazon integration compare to TeamToast's gift shop?

Awardco gives employees access to millions of Amazon products as rewards. TeamToast offers a custom gift shop where admins define their own items — which allows company-specific rewards like extra PTO, team lunches, or charitable donations that Amazon cannot provide.

### Q: Does Awardco require a minimum contract size?

Yes. Awardco requires a minimum annual contract of $3,000/year. TeamToast has no minimums: the free tier covers 25 users, and paid plans are available month-to-month or annually with no long-term commitment.

### Q: Can Awardco handle anonymous recognition?

No. Awardco does not support anonymous recognition. TeamToast provides truly anonymous toasts, feedback, and survey responses where sender identities are never stored — even admins cannot trace anonymous messages.

### Q: What implementation timeline should I expect with Awardco vs TeamToast?

Awardco typically requires enterprise onboarding that takes one to two weeks including configuration, SSO setup, and rewards catalog customization. TeamToast can be fully operational in under 2 minutes: sign up, connect your chat platform, and start recognizing.

# Recognition should be a right, not a privilege

We believe every team deserves tools that make people feel valued, regardless of company size or budget.

## Our Story

TeamToast was born from a simple observation: the best employee recognition platforms were priced out of reach for small and mid-sized teams. Companies with 10 or 20 people were expected to pay enterprise prices just to say "great job" to a colleague.

We believe every team deserves tools that make people feel valued — not just the ones with enterprise budgets. That's why we built TeamToast with a genuinely free tier for up to 25 users, with all features included. No artificial limits. No upgrade walls. No hidden fees.

Today, TeamToast helps teams send toasts, run pulse surveys, award badges, and build a culture of recognition — all from the chat platforms they already use. Whether you're a startup of 5 or an organization of 500, TeamToast grows with you.

## What we stand for

### Accessibility

Recognition tools should be available to every team. Our free tier includes all features for up to 25 users.

### Simplicity

Set up in 2 minutes. No IT involvement. No training required. Connect your chat and start recognizing.

### Privacy

Anonymous means anonymous. When someone sends anonymous feedback or recognition, even admins can't see who sent it.

### Integration

Meet teams where they work. Native Slack, Teams, and Google Chat support means no new tool to learn.

# Employee Recognition Glossary

Key terms and definitions for employee recognition, engagement surveys, gamification, and workplace culture programs.

## Employee Recognition

The practice of acknowledging and rewarding employees for their contributions, behaviors, and achievements. Effective recognition programs improve engagement, reduce turnover, and strengthen company culture. TeamToast implements recognition through peer-to-peer toasts, formal awards, and automated rituals.

**Related:** Peer-to-Peer Recognition, Toast

## Toast

A toast is a public or anonymous shout-out sent from one team member to another in TeamToast. Toasts include a message, optional points, and can be delivered via Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, or the web dashboard. Toasts appear on the Toast Wall and contribute to leaderboard rankings.

**Related:** Toast Wall, Anonymous Recognition

## Toast Wall

A shareable web page that displays all recognition within an organization in real time. The Toast Wall has a unique URL, optional password protection, and a TV presentation mode designed for office displays, lobbies, and all-hands meetings.

**Related:** Toast, TV Presentation Mode

## TV Presentation Mode

A full-screen display mode that rotates through recent toasts on the Toast Wall. Designed for office TVs, lobby screens, and meeting presentations. Auto-advances without interaction, supports dark and light themes, and works on any device with a web browser.

**Related:** Toast Wall

## Pulse Survey

A short, frequent employee survey (typically 1-5 questions) designed to measure engagement, satisfaction, or sentiment in real time. TeamToast supports Likert scale, NPS, yes/no, multiple choice, and open text question types with scheduled or event-triggered delivery.

**Related:** NPS, Employee Engagement

## NPS (Net Promoter Score)

A metric that measures employee loyalty and satisfaction on a 0-10 scale. Respondents scoring 9-10 are promoters, 7-8 are passives, and 0-6 are detractors. NPS is calculated as the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors, yielding a score from -100 to +100.

**Related:** Pulse Survey

## Peer-to-Peer Recognition

A recognition model where any employee can acknowledge a colleague's contribution, not just managers. Peer-to-peer recognition democratizes appreciation, captures contributions managers may not see, and is 36% more likely to have a positive impact than manager-only recognition.

**Related:** Employee Recognition, Toast

## Anonymous Recognition

Recognition sent without revealing the sender's identity. In TeamToast, anonymous toasts, feedback, and survey responses are truly untraceable — the sender identity is never stored alongside the content, and even administrators cannot reveal who sent an anonymous message.

**Related:** Toast, Psychological Safety

## Recognition Ritual

A recurring, automated recognition ceremony with three phases: a kickoff message that prompts the team to recognize each other, a mid-period nudge to boost participation, and a recap message that celebrates top contributors. Rituals are delivered via chat platforms on configurable schedules.

**Related:** Employee Engagement

## Giveable Points

A monthly point allowance that each team member uses to recognize others. When you send a toast, you attach giveable points. These points are replenished monthly by the system. Giveable points cannot be spent on rewards — they are exclusively for recognizing colleagues.

**Related:** Spendable Points, Team Points

## Spendable Points

Points earned by receiving toasts from colleagues. Spendable points accumulate in the recipient's balance and can be redeemed for items in the gift shop — such as company swag, gift cards, extra PTO, or charitable donations. They represent the tangible reward component of recognition.

**Related:** Giveable Points, Gift Shop

## Team Points

A shared point pool used for team-level awards and recognition. Team points enable collective celebrations — for example, a manager can grant a team award that draws from the shared pool rather than individual balances.

**Related:** Giveable Points, Spendable Points

## Gift Shop

An admin-configured catalog where employees redeem their spendable points for real rewards. Admins add items with names, images, descriptions, and point costs. Common items include company swag, gift cards, extra PTO, lunch vouchers, and charitable donations.

**Related:** Spendable Points, Awards

## Badge

A visual achievement unlocked automatically when a team member reaches an activity milestone — such as sending their first toast, reaching 50 recognitions, or completing a survey. Badges are organized into four categories (giver, receiver, survey, special) and appear on user profiles.

**Related:** Streak, Recognition Gamification

## Streak

A count of consecutive active days where a user sends or receives recognition. Streaks create gentle accountability and habit formation. Current and longest streaks are visible on profiles, and a streak leaderboard ranks the most consistent team members.

**Related:** Badge, Leaderboard

## Employee Engagement

The emotional commitment an employee has to their organization and its goals. Engaged employees are more productive, less likely to leave, and contribute more positively to culture. Recognition, surveys, and feedback are primary tools for measuring and improving engagement.

**Related:** Employee Recognition, Pulse Survey

## Psychological Safety

A team environment where individuals feel safe to take interpersonal risks — such as giving honest feedback, admitting mistakes, or recognizing peers — without fear of negative consequences. Anonymous recognition and feedback features directly support psychological safety.

**Related:** Anonymous Recognition

## eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score)

A variant of NPS specifically for measuring employee loyalty. The question "How likely are you to recommend this company as a place to work?" is scored 0-10. Organizations use eNPS to benchmark employee satisfaction and track it over time via pulse surveys.

**Related:** NPS, Pulse Survey
